Authors and Photographer Continue to Receive Praise for their Publication
Authors Thomas V. Litzenburg, Washington and Lee alumnus and former director of W&L’s Reeves Center and Ann T. (Holly) Bailey, former Reeves Center associate director, and area photographer Ellen M. Martin continue to receive praise for the publication, “Chinese Export Porcelain in the Reeves Center Collection at Washington and Lee University.”
The highly respected Chipstone Foundation recently published a review of the Collection catalogue in “Ceramics in America 2006” edited by Robert Hunter. “Aimed at an audience of students and collectors alike, this catalogue is meant to document and illustrate the Chinese export wares in the Reeves Center Collection.Litzenburg and Bailey not only succeed in this goal, they also contribute to Chinese porcelain scholarship.The visual showcase of the diverse collection, which dates from the 16th through 19th centuries, is made possible by Ellen M. Martin’s impressive photography and provides an invaluable comparative reference.The extremely high-quality full-color plates alone represent a very important contribution.
