Brandon Uhl, Norris T. Aldridge Men’s Track & Field Head Coach at Washington and Lee University, was selected as the 2023 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year in voting conducted by the league’s coaches.

Uhl guided the Generals to a second-place finish at this spring’s ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, compiling 150 team points, just 25 points shy of the University of Lynchburg. He helped mentor four W&L athletes to individual ODAC championships, while nine members of the team earned all-conference accolades. The Blue & White placed third during the indoor season, with one athlete claiming an ODAC individual championship this winter.

During his career, Uhl has led W&L to five ODAC titles while earning the ODAC Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year Award seven times, including three citations for the outdoor season and four during the indoor season. He’s also received the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) Indoor Regional Coach of the Year award twice.

Uhl has been a faculty member at Washington and Lee since 2008, first as an assistant coach and then as head coach since 2011. He also served as a volunteer coach in 2004 and again for the 2006-07 school year. He holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Slippery Rock University and a master’s degree in human performance from Frostburg State University.

If you know a W&L faculty member who has done great, accolade-worthy things, tell us about them! Nominate them for an accolade.
