Washington and Lee Professor Named Vice President at Hollins
Jeanine Silveira Stewart, professor of psychology and former acting dean of the College at Washington and Lee University, has been appointed vice president for academic affairs at Hollins University, in Roanoke. She begins her new post on July 1.
Stewart came to W&L in 1994. During her 14-year tenure, in addition to teaching psychology, she served as associate dean of the College from 2001-2003 and as acting dean of the College from 2003-2005.
“Dr. Stewart leaves Washington and Lee with our gratitude for her many contributions as a faculty member and an administrator,” said Kenneth P. Ruscio, president of W&L. “We will miss her, but we all wish her the very best, and send our congratulations on her new position to Dr. Stewart and to our colleagues at Hollins.”
In 2006, the Washington and Lee chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society founded at W&L in 1914, made Stewart an honorary member for her contributions to the university.
Stewart holds a B.A. and M.A. in psychology from Holy Cross College and a Ph.D. in sensory and systems neuroscience from the University of Virginia.
Stewart’s husband, Robert Stewart, is an associate professor in the W&L Psychology Department.
