Washington and Lee University presents a public lecture with William Cope Moyers ’81, New York Times bestselling author, on March 3 at 7 p.m. in Lee Chapel.

Moyers’ talk, which is free and open to the public, is titled “Broken: My Story of Addiction and Redemption.”

A panel discussion with current W&L students titled “It Can Happen to Anyone: Caring for Each Other During the Vulnerable College Years and Nurturing a New Culture of Recovery at W&L” will follow Moyers’ talk.

Moyers is a leading national advocate for addiction and recovery. He is vice president of public affairs and community relations for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Carrying a message about addiction and recovery, he has appeared on “Larry King Live,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Good Morning America” and National Public Radio.

The Washingtonian Society will sponsor the event with support from Active Minds, Peer Counselors and Contact.
