Marinus-Ensemble W&L Welcomes the Return of the Marinus EnsembleMarinus Ensemble

The W&L Concert Guild welcomes the return of the Marinus Ensemble on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. in the Wilson Concert Hall, on the Washington and Lee campus.

The concert at W&L will focus on nationalism in music. The performance will feature works by Spanish composer, Joaquín Turína, American composer, Ernest Bloch and Dmitri Shostakovich, a Russian composer and pianist. The concert is dedicated to the memory of H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest ’53, ’55L, who was a staunch supporter of both the Marinus Ensemble and Washington and Lee University.

Marinus Ensemble was created in 2010 by siblings Rachel Kuipers Yonan and Joseph Kuipers. The group brings emerging musicians from leading musical institutions such as Curtis, Julliard, the Metropolitan Opera, the Pittsburg Symphony and more. Each group of concerts Marinus produces emerges from thematic project ideas. The group also makes an effort to educate its audiences with residencies at universities, interactive concerts and straightforward program notes.

Tickets are required. Order your tickets online or call the Lenfest Box Office at 540-458-8000 for ticket information. Washington and Lee University cards can be used to purchase tickets. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., and will be open one hour before performance time.
