W&L’s Ninth National Symposium on Theater in the Academe Slated for March 13-15

Washington and Lee University will host the Ninth National Symposium of Theater in Academe from March 13 to 15. It will be held in Northen Auditorium in W&L’s Leyburn Library. The event is open to the public but registration is required.

The theater in academe will gather theater scholars, teachers and practitioners for three days of talks, performances, workshops and dialogues about the intersections between theater, pedagogy, social justice and performance as a catalyzing force for both the academic world and society at large.

Topics as diverse as introducing Holocaust studies into the curriculum through theater, using comedy to set the stage for social justice, or the negotiations between civic dialogue and public performance and presentations formats as diverse as scholarly talks, improvisational demonstrations, cabaret performances and round table discussions will stretch over the three days of the event.
