The Museums at W&L is celebrating Slow Art Day, a quiet international art movement, on Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McCarthy Gallery in Holekamp Hall.

The mission of Slow Art Day is to help more people discover the joy of looking at and loving art, and Elizabeth Spear, curator of academic engagement, will be leading sessions focused on viewing the still-life photographs of Stephanie Shih’s exhibit “Open Flowers Bear Fruit.” Sessions will encourage slow reflection and appreciation of the art, and participants are invited to engage in a discussion after the session to share their insights.

There will be three 50-minute sessions at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are recommended: https://calendly.com/mwlu/slow-art-day-2024.
