Construction at VMI to Reroute Traffic Traffic on Letcher Avenue through VMI will be rerouted from Mon., May 20, through Fri., May 25
Traffic on Letcher Avenue through Virginia Military Institute will be rerouted from Mon., May 20, through Fri., May 25, as contractors begin utility improvement work. Detour signs will reroute traffic during the work day—7 a.m. to 4 p.m.—throughout the construction process. At the end of each work day, the roads will be reopened after trench-covering metal plating and construction safety fencing have been put in place.
The work zone will begin at the intersection of Letcher Avenue and Maiden Lane, near the Limits Gates, and extend to the intersection of Letcher Avenue and Stono Drive, below Crozet Hall. Additionally, there will be a barricade placed on Parade Avenue at Moody Hall for work occurring on Parade Avenue.
From approximately June 17-July 3, Maiden Lane will be closed for utility work and demolition of the VMI police building. This could affect access to W&L’s Financial Aid and Sustainability offices; staff working in those offices should please plan accordingly.
