David Falck ’78L to Speak on Success and Ethics What does it mean to be an ethical lawyer in today's business environment?
David Falck ’78L, a W&L Law alumnus and former general counsel and law firm leader, will give a talk on Feb. 17 in Classroom B at 6:00 p.m. about what it means to be a competitive lawyer in today’s business environment while also maintaining ethical standards.
Specifically, he will outline some of the “day-to-day” qualities that employers value in young lawyers, and consider how those qualities intersect with ethics.
Throughout his career, Falck has held prestigious executive management roles in addition to working as a corporate lawyer in New York.
He is currently the Presiding Director on the board of the Amphenol Corporation, which is a Fortune-500 global manufacturer with a market capitalization of $26B. He is also the Chair of its Nominating and Governance Committee and serves on the Audit and Compensation Committees.
Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation. In addition to his legal responsibilities, he participated in the executive oversight of risk management, safety, cybersecurity, compliance, talent management, workforce diversity, and succession planning.
Falck also has almost 30 years of experience as a corporate lawyer with the New York firm Winthrop Stimson, Putnam & Roberts (now Pillsbury Winthrop). As partner, he was responsible for a practice that included M&A, financing, disclosure advice and board advisory work. He worked for clients like the major New York investment banks, industrial companies, private investors, and companies in regulated industries such as utilities. Falck has also worked internationally, leading legal teams on transactions in Europe, Canada, South American, and Asia.
