DeLaney Center Screen to Square Film Series to Show an Episode of ‘High on the Hog’ This year’s second installment will focus on the Netflix show that traces how African American cuisine has transformed America.
The Delaney Center at Washington and Lee University will continue its Screen to Square film series at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, with a screening of the Netflix series “High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America.” The event is free and open to the public and includes complimentary drinks and pizza.
The event begins with a showing of the third episode from the series’ second season, titled “The Defiance.” In the episode, chef and writer Stephen Satterfield meets with former student activists in Atlanta and honors the legacy of the chefs and bakers who fueled and funded the civil rights movement.
