Economics Professor Interviewed for ‘Marketplace’ Podcast Linda Hooks was one of three economists who offered their opinions on what Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell would say during an annual gathering in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Aug. 22.

Linda Hooks, professor of economics and head of the Economics Department at Washington and Lee University, was among a group of economics and finance experts interviewed by “Marketplace,” a podcast produced by the Marketplace public media outlet.

The segment’s focus was on the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s annual Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium held Friday, Aug. 22 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and what economists could expect from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s featured speech at the event.

Hooks has been a member of the W&L faculty since 1993. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Louisiana State University and earned both a master’s and a doctorate degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has served as head of the Economics Department since 2017.
