Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised in Miami-Dade County, Florida. My family is of Cuban descent and emigrated to South Florida in 1961. I received my Associate of Arts degree from Miami-Dade College and then completed my Bachelor’s Degree at Southern Virginia University in 2023. I grew up playing tennis and baseball until the age of 12, at which point I decided to focus strictly on tennis. I have continued playing and coaching ever since.
Q. Any favorite regional spots or activities you are excited about?
I truly love and admire the Lexington/Rockbridge area – its history, charm and tradition. I enjoy hiking the trails, taking scenic photos, visiting museums and eating good food – particularly Napa Thai, Golden Garden and The Palms.
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
Not ironically, I find great therapy in stringing tennis rackets during my spare time. I also like to watch historic or old classic movies. I love to play the drums (mainly jazz), go on roller coasters and swim. I hope that one day I can claim to have traveled to every desirable destination around the world.
