Q. Tell us a little about you and your background.
I received my undergraduate degree in speech pathology from JMU and my graduate degree in education from Gallaudet University. I taught for 28 years in the Raleigh/Durham area, mostly as a third-grade teacher and girls lacrosse coach. I am married to Ben and we have two adult children, son Ben (wife Katie) and daughter Lane.

Q. Any favorite Lexington/regional spots/activities?
Kayaking the Maury River, biking and running the Chessie Trail and hiking on the Appalachian Trail. I also love the downtown Lexington shops and restaurants.

Q. Best advice anyone has ever given you?
“Everything in moderation” — offered by my dad.

Q. Tell us a little about you and your background.
I made the move to Lexington after living in New York City for many years, but I feel like I’m getting back to my roots (I grew up in the Hampton Roads area and went to college at the University of Richmond).

Q. How do you unwind/have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
My No. 1 passion is travel, but I also enjoy sewing, baking and watching horror movies — not necessarily in that order. I’m also obsessed with bad reality TV — the more ridiculous, the better.

Q. Anything you are looking forward to in particular at W&L?
A big part of what drew me here were all the amazing people I met during the interview process — I can’t wait to get to know everyone and become a part of the W&L community.
