Get to Know the Newest Members of the W&L Community – 4/24/24 The following individuals recently joined the Washington and Lee employee workforce.
Sara Dunlap, University Store Non-Book Assistant – Auxiliary Services
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in Pennsylvania and have a bachelor’s degree in economics and business management. I spent the last 10 years living in Colorado and recently moved to Lexington. My husband and I have one dog and one cat.
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
Right now, I’m starting a garden so I’m having a lot of fun planning for the spring and starting seedlings indoors. I also enjoy crafting and playing music.
Q. Any favorite regional spots or activities you are excited about?
I’m looking forward to exploring the hiking trails in the area and experiencing my first summer in Virginia!
Timothy Pandorf, Associate University Registrar – Office of the University Registrar
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio – Who Dey! I currently reside in Lynchburg, Virginia with my wife Jess and 3-month-old daughter Maeve. I enjoy running, hiking, golfing and being outdoors. I am looking forward to joining this great institution!
Sydean Simpson, Cook II – Dining Services
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am 30 years old and enjoy baking and cooking. I have a degree in food and beverage management.
Juliann Smith, University Counselor II – Student Counseling
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born in Massachusetts and was raised in Virginia Beach. I hold a Bachelor of Science in human services counseling from Old Dominion University, a Master of Science in counseling from Radford University and a Ph.D. in counseling from Virginia Tech. I worked in the behavioral health field in multiple capacities for 30 years in numerous settings such as clinical supervision, director of emergency services, regional director of mobile crisis, outpatient clinician, inpatient psychiatric care and outpatient services (individual, group, adults and youth).
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I unwind in a few ways. Either by working in my large yard, sitting on my front porch in the rocking chair admiring the beautiful mountain view, enjoying my two cats or hanging out with family and friends.
Q. Any favorite regional spots or activities you are excited about?
I enjoy kayaking, tubing or swimming in Lexington and the surrounding areas, and walking the Woods Creek and Chessie Trails. I’m excited and proud to begin working with staff and students at Washington and Lee.
