Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I recently completed my Ph.D. in economics at the University of Virginia. I have been married to my wife, Julia, for seven years and we have a curious three-year-old named Elwin and a doofus dog named Daisy.
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I enjoy hiking, playing chess (badly) and plunking around on the piano. I also enjoy inventing math problems that I then can’t solve.
Q. Any favorite Lexington or regional spots or activities that you are excited about?
I enjoy learning Virginia history; I like hiking in the Shenandoah Valley and maybe I’ll visit Natural Bridge.
Rodriquez Stewart, Public Safety Officer – Student Affairs
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I like to go fishing and I enjoy hanging out around a campfire.
Q. Best advice anyone has ever given you?
Always listen and be seen, not heard.
Meaghan Walsh, Curatorial Fellow – Museums
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up outside of Washington, D.C., so I spent many a weekend and school field trips in the city at a museum, which is where my love of art and culture began. This led to me pursuing degrees in art history at the University of Virginia and the University of Kansas. After way too many years in school, I graduated from Virginia with my Ph.D. last summer and taught there for a year before joining the museums team at W&L.
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I love to cook and read. On the weekends, you can find me whipping up an overly complicated recipe while listening to a true crime podcast, or sitting on my porch with my nose buried in a book. I also enjoy learning and doing new things, so I am always up for a random adventure, especially when it means I can do something new in my community. Examples are attending a polo match (you can’t convince me this is not croquet on horses) or hiking the many trails Virginia has to offer. I’m looking forward to finding new and fun activities in Lexington to embark on this summer!
Q. Anything in particular that you are looking forward to here at W&L?
I can’t wait to work with a museum collection again! I find inspiration and joy from art, so I am thrilled to enmesh myself in the museum space. Part of my role at W&L is to dig deep in the museum’s holdings and find out more about understudied artists and objects in the collection. As a true crime aficionado, this feels like my opportunity to uncover some museum mysteries and bring new artists to light.
