
Get to Know the Newest Members of the W&L Community – 9/11/25 The following individuals recently joined the Washington and Lee employee workforce.
Allison Boswell, Public Safety Officer – Student Affairs
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I moved to Rockbridge County a few years ago after inheriting my great-grandparents land. After moving here, I decided to make it my home and began my career in law enforcement with a local police department. Recently I have decided to take a step back from road patrol and explore other areas of law enforcement while completing my degree in criminal justice.
Q. Anything in particular you are looking forward to at W&L?
I am looking forward to joining the W&L community and contributing to the safety teams’ mission to keep the campus a safe and welcoming environment.
Q. Best advice anyone has ever given you?
Speed bumps are meant to slow you down, not stop you.

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
My mother also works for W&L and I am looking forward to working here while I work toward obtaining my college education.
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I enjoy art and music.
Amber Ocasio, Leadership Annual Giving Officer – University Development
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a Richmond native and a double of alumna of Mary Baldwin University. I have a background in higher education including student affairs, student billing and as executive assistant to the Office of the President. I have a deep love for the Shenandoah Valley and look forward to my work at W&L.
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
If I’m not in downtown Staunton visiting the art gallery, having dinner with friends or at a local event, you’ll probably find me reading.
Q. Anything in particular you are looking forward to at W&L?
After attending the 2025 Road Warriors presentation, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the 2025-26 school year. W&L has broken so many records and recruited an amazing new class — it will be exciting to see what can be accomplished in another 12 months.

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a proud graduate of Clemson University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I find a tremendous amount of pride working in higher education and I am so excited to be a part of the W&L community! I’m looking forward to supporting the advancement team as we journey together through Slate.
Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
To stay active, I enjoy walking or running daily. When it’s time to unwind, a household favorite is rewatching old seasons of Survivor.

If you’re talking, you’re not listening.
