JACK Quartet to Perform at W&L’s Lenfest Center The Jan. 24 performance is sponsored by the university’s Concert Guild.

The Department of Music at Washington and Lee University presents the JACK Quartet in concert at 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Arts.
The event is sponsored by W&L’s Concert Guild, which brings professional performing artists to campus each year for concerts and masterclasses. Tickets are required and can be purchased online or in person at the Lenfest Center box office.
The Grammy-nominated string quartet has been a sensational presence in the classical music scene since 2005, introducing audiences worldwide to transformative chamber music in a range of settings, from traditional music halls to art galleries and bars. The New York Times has praised the JACK Quartet for their “stylistic range, precision and passion [which] have made the group one of contemporary music’s indispensable ensembles,” and the ensemble’s numerous honors include an Avery Fisher Career Grant, Musical America’s 2019 Ensemble of the Year Award and the Lincoln Center’s Martin E. Segal Award.
The JACK Quartet’s Jan. 24 performance, “Modern/Medieval,” will explore the connections of musicality and thought between European composers of the past and the voices of music today. The program will feature a wide array of composers from the 14th-16th centuries, along with the living artists who incorporate the ancient language as an inspiration for modern reimaginations.
Order your tickets online today or call the Lenfest Center box office at 540-458-8000 for ticket information. Box office hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost is $28 for adults, $23 for seniors and $18 for W&L faculty and staff; W&L students receive free tickets by showing their student identification.
