Jeff Schatten, associate professor of business administration, will deliver a lecture on artificial intelligence (AI) tools from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Northen Auditorium. The talk is free and open to the public.

The talk, titled “Everything That Can Be Automated Will Be Automated: AI Tools Transforming Today’s World,” will explore the accelerating trend toward automation, present live demonstrations of cutting-edge AI tools and discuss the profound implications for work, business and life as a whole.

“I’ll delve into how these advancements are reshaping job roles, streamlining processes and driving innovation across industries,” said Schatten. “Attendees will gain insights into both the promises and challenges of this AI-driven transformation, and I’ll address how to strategically adapt and leverage AI to stay competitive and prepared for the future.”

Schatten regularly presents on artificial intelligence tools and their benefits, including during a recent seminar for a group of business leaders at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. His passion for AI will culminate in the forthcoming book “AI Will Take Your Job (and it’s for the Best): Embracing the New Social Contract for the Age of AI,” which is set to be published by Emerald Publishing in 2025.

Schatten has been a member of the W&L faculty since 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Maryland, an MBA from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in managerial services from Georgia State University.
