The latest episode of “W&L After Class: The Lifelong Learning Podcast” features a conversation with Tyler Lorig, professor emeritus of cognitive and behavioral science, who has spent his career studying the olfactory system. In the fifth episode of Season Two, “The Nose Knows: The Science of Smell,” Lorig shares fascinating facts about the sense of smell and explains how crucial it is to human health and happiness. He also weighs in on how personal the sense is to each individual.

“When I smell the world, when I smell a wine, when I smell coffee, when I smell something else…my experience of that is utterly different than yours,” Lorig said.
