Q. How long have you worked at W&L?
I’ve been at W&L for about four years.
Q. What do you like most about working at W&L?
Hands down, the people. The faculty, staff and students are spectacular!
Q. Where is your favorite location on the W&L campus?
The Sacred Space in Elrod Commons. It’s cozy, peaceful, full of windows and surrounded by trees. Nature meets calm vibes — it’s perfect.
Q. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Waynesboro, Virginia.
Q. What advice do you have for students?
Be unapologetically you! And remember: success isn’t just where you end up — it’s the wild, winding journey that gets you there. That’s the good stuff.
Q. What is the most adventurous thing that you have ever done?
Through excursions on a cruise, I climbed a Mayan temple, snorkeled in the Cayman Islands and took a bumpy, backroad bus ride through Jamaica’s mountains to visit Bob Marley’s home. It was an exciting adventure!
Q. What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
Either wandering in nature (hiking, swimming, gardening) or getting messy with art. I love painting, crafting, drawing, writing — if it involves creating or exploring, I’m in.
Q. If you could live anywhere, where would you build your dream home?
Tucked away in the Shenandoah Valley (a.k.a. Daughter of the Stars) — on a mountain with a little creek, some flat land for gardening and space to kick around a soccer ball.
Q. What book are you reading now?
“Empaths on Their Soul Path” by Corri Milner. Deep, soulful stuff.
Q. What music are you listening to these days?
Reggae all the way. Good vibes, uplifting words and a rhythm that “makes you wanna move your dancin’ feet” — Bob Marley.
Q. What is your favorite film (movie) of all time?
Tough call! It’s a three-way tie between “The Princess Bride” (classic wit and love), “Mary Poppins” (makes me feel like a kid again), and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (adventure, of course).
Q. If they made a movie about your life, who would play you?
Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe from “Friends.” Quirky, artsy, big-hearted energy.
Q. Which historical figure do you most identify with and why?
Georgia O’Keeffe. She saw the world through an artistic lens, loved nature, balanced city life with country calm and made bold, beautiful things. Kindred spirit for sure.
Q. If you could have coffee with one person, who would it be and why?
I’d have a cozy cup of coffee with my stepdaughter, Liz. She was vibrant, funny, wise beyond her years and full of light. I’d love just one more heart-to-heart with her.
Q. What is your desert island food?
Silk yogurt piled high with trail mix, grapes, blueberries, strawberries and granola. A little sweet, a little crunchy and totally delicious!
Q. Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
I love solo adventures! I’ve driven to the beach alone and slept under the stars, gone to concerts solo, moved across the country on a whim, camped for months and attended spiritual retreats — all by my lonesome. I’m all about following the spark.
Q. What is your secret talent?
Roller skating! Give me some wheels, a little space and I’m good to go.
Q. Anything else you’d like to share?
Life’s too short not to explore, create, laugh and dance a little. I try to live every day with joy, curiosity and a sprinkle of silliness.
