Karen Woody has been a professor of law at W&L since July 2019. She has taught Torts, Business Associations, Business Immersion, Securities Regulation, and Insider Trading. Prior to joining W&L, Professor Woody taught at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. She currently lives in Charlottesville, VA.
Q. Where is your favorite location on the W&L campus?
The W&L footbridge.
Q. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
I enjoy playing the guitar and going on hikes.

Q. What research are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on several projects, one of which is diving into various fraud statutes and analyzing the overlap among them.
Q. If you could have coffee or tea with one person, who would it be and why?
Samantha Power – she has always been an inspiration to me, ever since she wrote her first book about genocide.
Q. What is an accomplishment you are proud of?
Testifying in Congress about a provision of Dodd-Frank.
Q. Favorite food/restaurant/drink?
All things pizza, or pizza-related (Caprese salad, mozzarella panini, etc.).
Q. Most used/enjoyable app on your phone?
NYT Games (Wordle, Connections, Spelling Bee).
