I don’t know that I have a favorite place, but I really enjoy taking a walk around campus at lunch.

Q. Where did you grow up?
I grew up right here in Rockbridge County.

Q. What advice do you have for students?
Never take for granted the amazing opportunities you have.

Q. What is the most adventurous thing that you have ever done?
Besides teaching two teenagers how to drive? I’ll have to keep you posted on this one.

Q. What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
Saving recipes that I hope to fix one day. I also enjoy being at home and spending time with family.

Q. If you could live anywhere, where would you build your dream home?
I would build in North Carolina – somewhere close to the beach!

Q. Who most inspires you?
My kids.

Amazon.com.

Benjamin Franklin. I use his quote “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail” almost daily.

Q. If you could have coffee with one person, who would it be and why?
My granny Hickman. She made the best coffee, and we would have to play rummy and checkers.

Q. What is your desert island food?
That’s a toss up between something salty or something sweet.

Q. Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
I’m left-handed.
