
Meet a Colleague: Whit Goode ’21 Whit Goode ’21 serves as assistant director of career and professional development.
Q. How long have you worked at W&L?
I’ve only worked at W&L for around two months.
Q. What is the favorite aspect of your job at W&L?
Using my professional experience to educate, inform and prepare students for pursuing careers in finance while also connecting with alumni who are looking to consider W&L applicants for their open positions. That, plus the CPD team is a lighthearted, fun group to work with.
Q. If you chose a different path, what other career would you have?
High school chemistry teacher and baseball coach.
Q. Where did you grow up?
Richmond, Virginia.
Q. What three words describe you best?
Approachable, curious and jovial.
Q. Name one person from history you would like to spend a day with and why.
Hank Aaron since I’m an avid baseball fan and my mom grew up in Atlanta.
Q. Who is the most famous person you have met and where did you meet them?
John Elway, whom I met on the sidelines before a Broncos game.
Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?
When someone says “we” should do something then expecting me to proceed with the doing.
Q. What do you like to do away from work?
I like to listen to music and discover new tracks/artists, watch sports, spend time with my girlfriend, talk to family and friends and try new recipes.
Q. What is your least favorite chore at home?
Taking out the trash.
Q. What is your favorite family holiday tradition?
Roasting oysters while sitting around a fire pit.
Q. What is the most adventurous thing that you have ever done?
The summer before starting at W&L, I took a job as a kitchen hand for a kid’s camp in Dubois, Wyoming with only three-weeks’ notice.
Q. What do you pretend to hate but secretly love?
Buying new clothes.
Q. What is your all-time favorite food or food dish?
Double smashburger with fries and a chocolate milkshake.
Q. What is your all-time favorite book?
“Theo of Golden” by Allen Levi.
Q. If you could choose one series to binge-watch, what would it be?
“Game of Thrones.”
Q. What song or artist could you play on repeat?
It’s a tie between Tedeschi Trucks Band and St. Paul and the Broken Bones.
Q. Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
Growing up, our family’s dogs had three litters of lab puppies. That was an incredible experience!
Q. Anything else you’d like to share?
I couldn’t be more excited to be back in Lexington and look forward to working with students and alumni alike with the mission of enabling folks to achieve their desired goals!
