Meet a General: Gabe Pickett When he isn't connecting employers with W&L students, Gabe Pickett is often working out—probably to burn off all those hot dogs.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small town in upstate New York called Vestal.
How long have you worked at W&L?
I have worked at W&L since January 2019.
What does your job here entail?
I coordinate employee recruiting efforts here at W&L, whether that be by organizing their visits to campus or sharing their opportunities with W&L students via Handshake. I also work with the Office of Inclusion and Engagement to create and implement diversity initiatives.
What do you like best about working at W&L so far?
The people at W&L and the Lexington community are very friendly and welcoming. The students are brilliant and great to work with.
Is there anything about your job or department that you wish more people in the W&L community knew?
The Career and Professional Development office wishes to help and reach all students. Many people think we only help students interested in certain industries, which could not be further from the truth.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?
I like to work out at the gym and Play NBA 2K.

Austin, Texas

What’s your favorite kind of music/artist to listen to?
My favorite artist is Kid Cudi.
What’s your desert island food?
Hot dogs. I can literally eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I have been skydiving.
