Lindsay Giglio ‘27L was raised in Potter Valley, California and earned her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of California, San Diego. She decided to pursue a legal education after interning with the Mendocino County Public Defender’s Office in Northern California. Observing the attorneys work with such passion and dedication inspired her to apply to law school.

After her first year at W&L Law, Lindsay divided her summer between two internships. In the first half of the summer, she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Ashley Edwards in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of North Carolina. In the latter half, she worked as a summer associate for Saccucci and Partners in Rome, Italy. Next summer, she will join Moore and Van Allen, PLLC as a summer associate in their Charlotte office.

Why did you choose W&L Law?

I chose W&L Law because of its dedicated professors, staff, and students. Together, the entire W&L Law community cultivates a caring and trustworthy environment – something that was apparent to me the first time I stepped on campus. I remember attending Admitted Students Day and feeling almost overwhelmed with the warmth and friendliness I experienced on campus. Even students who just happened to be passing by were quick to wave and smile.

Share an experience that has had an impact on your time as a law student.

One of my most distinct memories is from my first finals season at W&L Law. My classmates and I studied together, which included talking through practice questions and difficult concepts on our exams. I found it incredibly valuable to have collaborative conversations where we shared our different understandings of a topic and helped each other fine-tune our knowledge. We also made time to take breaks –going on walks or grabbing coffee together– which helped brighten the long study days.

Why did you choose to be a Kirgis Fellow—what are some responsibilities you have in this role?

I chose to become a Kirgis Fellow because I wanted to offer the same support and guidance that previous Kirgis Fellows provided for me. By the end of my 1L year, I felt comfortable approaching any of the Kirgis Fellows, whether I had spoken to them or not. Each of them offered a friendly face and a listening ear, and I hope to be that person for the incoming first-year students. Some responsibilities I have in this role are providing guidance and advice to first-year students about adapting to the academics, navigating through the job search process, and coping with the stress of law school.

What is something you would like incoming 1Ls to know about you?

I am extremely passionate about playing soccer and still love to get out on the field whenever I can! There’s a group of W&L Law students who make time to play weekly, and I’ve found it to be a great way to unwind and connect with new people.

Favorite spot at W&L Law or Lexington.

One of my favorite places in Lexington is the Chessie Trail. It’s a scenic and peaceful path that winds along the river where you’ll see people running, biking, or simply enjoying the fresh air.

Anything specific you are looking forward to in your 2L year?

I am really looking forward to meeting and building connections with the incoming class of 1Ls, taking new courses, and spending more time with friends at school!
