Public Author Talk Scheduled for Poetry Night 2019 at W&L The public reading is free and open to the public.
Washington and Lee University will host Laura Cesarco Eglin, a Spanish professor at Simpson College, for Poetry Night 2019 on Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. in Leyburn Library’s Book Nook.
Eglin’s research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century Latin American (Spanish American and Brazilian) pieces of literature, poetry and cultures.
Eglin is the author of four collections of poetry and two chapbooks. Her poetry and translations (from the Spanish, Portuguese, Portuñol and Galician) have appeared widely, and she is also the co-founding editor and publisher of Veliz Books.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity to welcome professor Eglin to campus to share her poetry through Poetry Night 2019, which will comprise a precedent-setting achievement here at W&L,” said Seth Michelson, assistant professor of Spanish.”Eglin is our first-ever poet to read her work simultaneously in Spanish, Portuguese, Portuñol and Galician. That and the mixture of verse in itself is sure to be a dazzling pleasure for all.”
