Samantha McLemore ’02 and Lee Hollis ’86 to Join W&L Board of Trustees McLemore and Hollis will be sworn in at the board’s spring meeting.
Samantha McLemore and Lee Hollis will join the Washington and Lee University Board of Trustees at the board’s May 2022 meeting.
Samantha McLemore ’02 graduated magna cum laude from W&L with a B.S. in business administration and accounting and is founder and managing member of Patient Capital Management LLC in Towson, Maryland.
McLemore began her career at Legg Mason Capital Management in 2002 as an analyst, was named Assistant Portfolio Manager of Opportunity Equity in 2008 and became Co-Portfolio Manager in 2014. She has served as the Portfolio Manager for the Dublin-based Opportunity Fund since its launch in 2009.
In 2020, she founded Patient Capital Management, an investment adviser serving institutional clients, which co-operates with Miller Value Partners. She received her CFA designation in 2005 and is a member of the Baltimore Security Analysts Society.
At W&L, McLemore was a recipient of the Lewis Kerr Johnson Scholarship and the Accounting Department Scholarship and served on Kathekon, W&L’s student alumni association. She currently serves on the Williams School Advisory Board and the Campaign Council, and previously served on W&L’s Class of 2002 Reunion Committee.
McLemore also serves on the Board of Directors for the Next Generation Investing Conference, an event to raise funds for three local not-for-profit educational institutions. In 2017, she was named one of Baltimore’s 40 Under 40 by the Baltimore Business Journal. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her three children.
Lee Hollis ’86 graduated cum laude from W&L with a B.S. in history and is a partner at Lightfoot, Franklin & White in Birmingham, Alabama. Hollis received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1992.
Hollis has served as the chair of the Hiring Committee at Lightfoot, Franklin & White and currently chairs the Marketing & Business Development Committee. He has been the firm’s longtime representative in the Network of Trial Law Firms, where he has served as secretary, treasurer, vice-chair and chair.
At W&L, Hollis was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, served on the Student Recruitment Committee, as co-chair of the Contact Committee, and as President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He served on the Coeducation Steering Committee and was a founding member of Kathekon.
Hollis has served as president of W&L’s alumni chapters in both Nashville and Birmingham, on the search committee that resulted in the hiring of President Ken Ruscio, on the Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2002-2006 where he was Association President from 2005-2006, and on multiple campaign and reunion committees.
Hollis is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA), where he served as co-chair of the ADLA Trial Academy for two years. He is active in the United Way of Central Alabama and a member of its Toqueville Society of leading donors.
Hollis resides in Birmingham with his wife, Katie, and three children, and enjoys hunting, college football, golf and scuba diving in his free time.
Hollis was elected to the Board of Trustees by fellow alumni, through the W&L Alumni Association’s first implementation of a new process that allowed alumni to nominate and vote on a slate of nominees. Ballots were cast by 4,626 alumni ranging from the Class of 1946 to the Class of 2021.
