Washington and Lee University’s Science, Society and the Arts (SSA) Conference will host a Research Opportunity Exhibition at 5 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the Northen Auditorium inside Leyburn Library. The exhibition will feature a panel of students and faculty who have experience pursuing research opportunities.

The panel will showcase different modes through which students can get involved with research at W&L and beyond and highlight opportunities across the arts, social sciences, humanities and sciences. The event is intended for undergraduate students at any point of their research journey, from those unsure of which discipline they wish to pursue to those who already have research experience.

“W&L hosts and has connections to so many great research opportunities for students, but it can be daunting to know where to start or how to break into research,” said Ellie Ursin ’25, the academic chair for SSA 2025. “Other members of the SSA board and myself agreed that hosting an event to showcase the range of experiences students can choose to pursue and practical tips on how to get there would be valuable.”
