Washington and Lee is committed to providing employees with a highly competitive benefits package that enhances the well-being of employees and is consistent with the strategic objectives of the university.

As the new academic year gets underway, we want to remind employees of several helpful resources regarding employee benefits. The human resources website is an excellent tool and a great place to start.

Each benefit is summarized on the HR site, with contact information and rates listed.  The 2022-23 Benefits Guidebook provided in the spring is also located on this site. Health Advocate can be particularly helpful if you need help resolving a health or dental claim, finding and scheduling an appointment with a specialist, understanding benefits, etc.

Are you aware that there is an Employee Benefits Committee at W&L? The Employee Benefits Committee (EBC) is composed of four university faculty members, one or more staff members (all appointed by the president), the treasurer and VP for finance, and the provost. It periodically reviews programs relating to employee benefits and acts in an advisory capacity to the president. This committee, which is chaired by Elizabeth Oliver, meets regularly during the academic year on your behalf and welcomes your thoughts.

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Kim Austin, associate director of human resources at kaustin@wlu.edu.
