W&L Davies Presents at CPA Papua New Guinea and CPA Australia Conference Davies' public lecture was titled "The Path to Kina Convertibility: Foreign Exchange Market of Papua New Guinea."
On November 19, 2021, Washington and Lee University Associate Professor of Economics Martin Davies delivered a public lecture via Zoom titled “The Path to Kina Convertibility: Foreign Exchange Market of Papua New Guinea” at the Chartered Professional Accountants of PNG and Chartered Professional Accountants of Australia PNG Branch 25 Annual Conference.
The theme was “Transforming PNG Through Oil and Gas,” and there were over 800 people in attendance. Davies spoke on current foreign exchange market conditions in PNG and policies to alleviate the foreign exchange shortage. Other conference speakers included the Hon. Kerenga Kua, MP Minister for Petroleum and Energy, and 16 other CEOs and high-level civil servants.
Davies holds an M.Phil and Ph.D. in Economics from Oxford University. He also received a Bachelor of Economics with honors from Australian National University.
