W&L Music Presents Fall Choral Concert Oct. 25 Tickets are free, but required for the performance, which will take place at 8 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall.
Washington and Lee University presents the Fall Choral Concert on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are free, but required, and are available at my.wlu.edu/lenfest-center/fall-choral-concert.
The performance will also be available to watch via Livestream at livestream.com/wlu.
Along with the acclaimed University Singers, the event will feature Cantatrici and the W&L Glee Club – a Lexington tradition since the 19th century.
Showcasing Lacey R. Lynch, conductor of Cantatrici, and members of the Choral Conducting Mentorship Program (CCMP), the first half of the concert will be centered around Latvian composer Laura Jekabsone’s “Sudraba Meness,” as well as the amazing “Sihr Khalaq” – an incredible combination of Arabic rhythm, textures and style.
The University Singers, conducted by Shane M. Lynch, are finalists for the City of Derry International Choir Festival in October, and are the first American choir ever to be selected for this competition. They will present both their competition concert set and gala concert set, which feature the music of Tom’as Luis de Victoria, Frank Martin, Stacey V. Gibbs and Rosephayne Powell.
Traditional favorites will round out the evening, closing with James Erb’s renown arrangement “Shenandoah.”
