“Classes I took with two politics professors made me want to pursue a position on the Hill after graduation.”
Q: What are your post-grad plans?
I’ll be working in Congressman Jerry Carl’s office in Washington, D.C.
Q: Who or what has inspired you along the way?
Classes I took with two politics professors made me want to pursue a position on the Hill after graduation. Professor Bill Connelly taught a Spring Term class my first year at W&L, and one of the main themes of the class that has stuck with me is that it is important that people take a serious interest in the policy decisions that will affect them and their families. And doing Washington Term with Professor Brian Alexander my junior year solidified my desire to be in D.C. after W&L.
Q: What career-related advice would you give next year’s graduating
class?
Reach out to alumni for help or just to talk about their experience! Every alumnus I talked to was generous with their time and willing to help in any way they could.
If you know any W&L students who would be great profile subjects, tell us about them! Nominate them for a web profile.
