W&L Piano Program Presents “Let’s Dance” The recital will be held in person and via Livestream on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m.
Students in Washington and Lee University’s piano program will perform their inaugural winter concert, “Let’s Dance,” on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Concert Hall.
The performance is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow. It will also be streamed online at livestream.com/wlu.
Inspired by dance in various global and historical contexts, the program will feature a range of thematically connected pieces that span centuries and continents. Performances will include familiar favorites by Claude Debussy, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt and Franz Schubert, as well as gems by Du Yun, Enrique Granados, Alberto Ginastera and Peter Warlock.
The recital will also feature W&L piano faculty members, William McCorkle and Akiko Konishi, performing Darius Milhaud’s Brazilian-inspired Scaramouche for two pianos.
