W&L Piano Program Presents “The Seasons: Sounds of Nature” The Feb. 11 performance will be followed by a reception.
Students in Washington and Lee University’s piano program will perform their annual winter concert, “The Season: Sounds of Nature,” on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall, followed by a reception in Lykes Atrium.
The performance is free and open to the public. The event will also be streamed online at go.wlu.edu/livestream.
The program will highlight piano pieces inspired by nature in various global and historical contexts. Performances will include familiar favorites by Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Frédéric Chopin, as well as gems by Samuel Barber, Boris Berlin, Robert Schumann, Gioachino Rossini and Carsten Dahl.
The recital will also feature W&L piano faculty members, Patrick Summers, William McCorkle and Akiko Konishi, performing works by Dave Brubeck and Astor Piazzolla.
