Anna Billias and Julia Goudimova, faculty members from the Music Department at Washington and Lee University, will present “From Vienna With Love” on April 3 at 3 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall.

The performance is free and open to the public and will be streamed online at https://livestream.com/wlu.

A duet by Billias and Goudimova, “Anima e Grazia,” translated in English to “Soul and Grace,” will lead the audience through some of the most soulful compositions of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire with their presentation.

The program was chosen prior to the worsening of the conflict between Russia-Ukraine, but the gift of Austrian composers such as Schubert, Brahms and Beethoven are a perfect remedy for the souls and hearts of audience members.

“In these turbulent times, it is important to counterbalance our worries with peace, love and the light found in beautiful music,” said Billias. “We are truly blessed to have each other and our music. Being born in the Soviet Russia and Soviet Ukraine, we feel a special need to allow music to heal wounds while the war continues wrecking people’s homes and lives in our home countries.”
