W&L Presents Faculty Recital with Akiko Konishi The piano performance will take place on Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. in the Lenfest Center’s Wilson Concert Hall.

The Department of Music at Washington and Lee University will present a faculty recital by pianist Akiko Konishi on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Arts.
The performance is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required. The performance will also be streamed online at https://go.wlu.edu/livestream.
The program is titled “Goblins and Gargoyles: Fairy Tales in Piano Literature” and will explore the vibrant masterpieces inspired by mythical creatures from around the world. The performance will feature works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Antonin Dvorak and Lowell Liebermann.
Konishi, assistant professor of music at W&L, is a trained pianist who performs extensively in guest artist venues across the United States and has toured internationally in Italy and Bulgaria as a winner of the Mercadante International Chamber Music Competition. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in music and English from Rice University and completed her graduate studies at Yale University and the University of Houston. Before W&L, Konishi taught applied piano and core music courses at Triton College and taught precollegiate students through her private studio in Chicago.
