W&L Presents Faculty Recital with ‘Anima e Grazia’ The duet consists of Julia Goudimova and Anna Billias, who both serve as lecturers in the Washington and Lee Music Department.
Washington and Lee University will present the duet “Anima e Grazia,” translated in English to “Soul and Grace,” for a special Mother’s Day faculty recital on May 9 at 3 p.m.
The show is free and open to the public to view online at https://livestream.com/wlu.
The duet consists of Julia Goudimova (cellist) and Anna Billias (pianist), who both serve as lecturers in the Washington and Lee Music Department.
This year, the virtual audience will hear classics from the French repertoire. The central piece of the program belongs to the “Cello Sonata No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 32,” by Camille Saint-Saёns.
“When choosing these recital pieces, we thought of our mothers and that by listening to these highly intimate and reflective works, Mother’s Day would be special and memorable,” Billias said. “We hope that the chosen repertoire evokes a bouquet of sentiments, highlighting happiness over sadness, resolving drama into peace and tranquility.”
