W&L Presents Marlbrook Chamber Players Fall Concert The performance will be dedicated to the memory of Dymphna Alexander.
Washington and Lee University will present the Marlbrook Chamber Players at 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 in Wilson Concert Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
The performance will be dedicated to the memory of Dymphna Alexander, who was the administrative assistant of the Music Department at W&L from 1988 to 2013. Alexander died on October 2.
The performers include members of W&L’s faculty Jaime McArdle, violinist, Julia Goudimova, cellist, and Timothy Gaylard, pianist; all three knew Alexander when she was in the department.
The program, entitled “Russia vs. Austria: Late Romanticism towards Modernism,” will feature two works—the “Piano Trio in D minor” by Anton Arensky, written in memory of his friend and mentor Karl Davydov, and “Verklärte Nacht/Transfigured Night” by Arnold Schoenberg.
