W&L Presents the University Orchestra Winter Concert The March 23 program will feature the winner of this year’s concerto-aria contest.
The University Orchestra at Washington and Lee University presents its Winter Term concert on Thursday, March 23, at 8 p.m. in the Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Performing Arts.
The performance is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required. The event will also be streamed online at livestream.com/wlu.
This year’s concert will feature Taylor Colaizzi ’23, the winner of the 2022-2023 Concerto-Aria Contest, performing the first movement of Carl Maria von Weber’s “Clarinet Concerto No. 2.” The program will also spotlight student conductors Duncan Hart ’24, Taylor Colaizzi ’23, and Michael McLaughlin ’23 as they lead the orchestra through the music of Josef Suk. The concert will be rounded out by Georges Bizet’s “L’Arlessienne Suite No. 2” and the Virginia premiere of Katahj Copley’s “Equinox.”
