W&L Students Host Lunar New Year Celebration The Feb. 10 event will include performances and a dinner.
The Pan-Asian Association for Cultural Exchange (PAACE) at Washington and Lee University will host a Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 5-7 p.m. in the Science Center Great Hall.
The event is free and open to the campus community.
The Lunar New Year celebration will feature a traditional music performance by River City Taiko, a community ensemble based in Richmond, and a fashion show displaying students’ cultural attire. The event will also include a dinner, riddles, prizes and traditional gifts of red envelopes.
“I am especially looking forward to seeing River City Taiko perform at Washington and Lee for the first time,” said Aislinn Niimi ’24, co-president of PAACE. “I had the opportunity to see them perform traditional Japanese music two years ago and was impressed by their energy and passion. I dreamed of bringing them to W&L, and I’m thrilled we have an opportunity to see such a performance on campus.”
