W&L to Host Human Library® Reading Event in Leyburn Library The event is co-sponsored by the Mudd Center for Ethics and Leyburn Library and will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 4:30 p.m.
The Mudd Center for Ethics and Leyburn Library will present W&L’s Human Library® Reading Event on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 4:30 p.m. in Leyburn Library.
The event is designed to help us “unjudge” one another through dialogue between Human Books and Readers. Human Books are people who volunteer to start a dialogue about an aspect of their experience or identity that has exposed them to stigma, hardship, prejudice or misunderstanding. Readers meet with Human Books to listen, learn and ask questions. The Human Library® provides a safe space for us to talk about things that can feel difficult to discuss to understand them better.
Dialogues at the event will focus on books’ experiences of marginalization, discrimination or misunderstanding. Topics may relate to health, gender, race/ethnicity, sexuality and other aspects of identity or experience.
Pre-registration is required for readers and space is limited. To learn more about the Human Library® at W&L, please visit the website through the Mudd Center’s page.
