W&L’s Contact Committee Presents an Evening with Actor Christopher Jackson The Tony Award nominee and Grammy and Emmy Award winner will speak on April 2 in the Lenfest Center’s Keller Theatre.
Washington and Lee University’s Contact Committee will welcome award-winning actor Christopher Jackson to campus at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, in Keller Theatre in the Lenfest Center for the Arts.
The event is free and open to the W&L community. Tickets are required and will be available to pick up in Elrod Commons on March 25 and 26.
Jackson is a Tony Award-nominated actor and a Grammy and Emmy Award-winning songwriter and composer, best known for originating the role of George Washington in the groundbreaking musical “Hamilton.” His powerful portrayal brough depth, strength and humanity to one of America’s founding figures, helping a new generation connect with the nation’s history. Jackson was also featured on the iconic “Hamildrop” hit, “One Last Time (44 Remix),” which featured then-President Barack Obama.
In addition to his acclaimed stage work, Jackson has appeared in numerous film and television roles, including HBO Max’s “And Just Like That…,” CBS’ drama series “Bull” and Netflix’s “When They See Us.” A celebrated performer on and off Broadway, he continues to captivate audiences nationwide through his acting, music and live performances.
Jackson attended American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA)’s Musical Theatre Conservatory in New York City and received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Oglethorpe University. He won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song for A Children’s Series for his work in “Sesame Street” and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for “Hamilton.” He was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Washington in “Hamilton.”
