Washington and Lee University’s Contact Committee is pleased to welcome Daymond John, star of ABC’s Shark Tank, to Lexington for Parents and Family Weekend on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church (123 W. Washington Street, Lexington).
The event is free and open to the W&L community, and tickets are required. Tickets will be available to pick up outside Elrod Commons between 10 a.m. and noon on Oct. 7, and between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 8.
John is celebrating his 16th season of sharing his marketing prowess and entrepreneurial insights on ABC’s critically acclaimed business reality television show Shark Tank, produced by Mark Burnett, which has reinvigorated entrepreneurship around the world. Shark Tank has received five Emmy Awards and boasts millions of weekly viewers worldwide.
John is also the CEO and founder of FUBU, a much-celebrated global lifestyle brand, and a pioneer in the fashion industry with billions in product sales worldwide. He was appointed by former President Barack Obama to be a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship to harness his energy, ideas and experience to help develop the next generation of entrepreneurs both at home and abroad.
John’s marketing strategies and ability to build successful brands have made him a highly influential consultant and motivational speaker today. His marketing firm, The Shark Group, offers advice on how to effectively communicate to consumers through innovative means and connects brands with the world’s top celebrities for everything from endorsements to product extensions.
An entrepreneur in every sense of the word, John has received numerous awards, including the Brand Week Marketer of the Year, Advertising Age Marketing 1000 Award for Outstanding Ad Campaign, and Ernst & Young’s New York Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
