Linda M. Hooks, professor of economics and chair of the Economics Department at Washington and Lee University, was featured in a recent Wallet Hub article titled “2021’s Best & Worst Cities at Money Management.”
In the article, Hooks discusses financial education for high school students, common money management mistakes, mobile personal finance apps and advice for short-term financial goals.
At W&L, Hooks teaches undergraduate courses in money and banking, principles of macroeconomics and monetary policy. She has also led a seminar on the European monetary union, which included travel to Europe with students. She researches monetary economics and banking, including banks’ role in economic growth, the impact of regulation on bank risk and the role of an international lender of last resort.
