W&L’s Myers Contributes to Civil War Handbook Professor Barton Myers recently contributed to “The Oxford Handbook of the American Civil War.”
Barton Myers, the Class of 1960 Professor of Ethics and History at Washington and Lee University, wrote a piece for “The Oxford Handbook of the American Civil War” about the battle of Fredericksburg.
Myers was one of 39 leading Civil War scholars to contribute to the book. Each chapter advances the central thesis that operational military history is decisively linked to the social and political account of Civil War-era America. The book will be available to purchase in October 2021.
