W&L’s Sociology and Anthropology Department Presents 2022 Lecture Series The new social justice series titled “Measuring Choice and Freedom" will highlight the work of department alumni.
Starting this month, Washington and Lee University’s Sociology and Anthropology Department (SOAN) will present a new social justice series titled “Measuring Choice and Freedom.” The featured speakers in the series are SOAN graduates.
The first talk of the semester occurred on Jan. 18 at 5 p.m., with Stephanie Chung ’18, a graduate research assistant at the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health.
Future talks in the series will highlight the work of various SOAN alumni:
- Feb 1: Kara Fitzgibbon ’11 (University of Virginia): “Progression with Regression: Fighting for Social Justice through Survey Research.”
- Feb. 15: Christina Kamis ’16 (Duke University): “Assessing Health Inequalities over the Life Course: The Importance of Early Life Adversity.”
- March 15: Leah Gose ’15 (Harvard University): TBA
