Washington and Lee University’s Department of Music presents The University Singers in concert with the Virginia State University Concert Choir on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Arts.
Tickets to the performance are free, but required and are available online or in person at the Lenfest Box Office.
The performance will feature individual sets from The University Singers under the direction of Shane Lynch, professor of music and director of choral activities at W&L, and the Virginia State University Choir under the direction of Craig Robertson, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at VSU. The two choirs will join to close out the concert as a combined choir in a first-of-its-kind collaboration.
The two choirs have never partnered in the past and will share a concert at VSU’s campus in Richmond on Feb. 15 before the Lexington Feb. 16 performance. Co-sponsored by W&L’s DeLaney Center, the event will also feature a public discussion on the importance of such events with Robertson and Lynch in the weeks leading up to the concert.
