Freda Coleman-Jackson is the Assistant Director of Career Strategy and has worked at W&L Law since May 2020. Freda grew up near Eglin Air Force Base in Northwest Florida and attended college at Florida A&M University (Go Rattlers!) and graduate school at the University of Florida (Go Gators!) before living in the Midwest for several years. She currently resides in Daleville, VA with her husband, Jeremy, who is an architectural drafter with Virginia School Equipment in Lynchburg, and her 5-month old puppy, Toby.

Q. Where is your favorite location on the W&L campus?
My favorite location on the W&L campus is the covered outdoor pavilion on the hill just above the law school. When the weather is nice, it’s great place to have lunch with a colleague or to hold a Zoom meeting in the fresh air.

Q. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
My favorite thing to do when I’m not working is to attend an exercise class at Orange Theory Fitness (OTF) in Roanoke. It’s so much fun, you almost forget it is a HIIT workout! Every once and awhile, I’ll attend a 90-minute class.

Q. Book/Podcast/TV Show Recommendation?
I’m obsessed with anything involving true crime on the Investigation Discovery Channel.

Q. Who inspires you?
My 92-year-old grandmother Vera White inspires me every day to work hard and focus on family.

Q. If you could have coffee or tea with one person (living or deceased), who would it be and why?
It would be my dad. He passed away during my second year of law school and didn’t get to see me graduate. I’d love to fill him in on the past decade and a half of my life and get his advice on this thing called adulting!

Q. What is an accomplishment you are proud of?
An accomplishment that I am proud of was receiving the Walter F. George Foundation Public Service Scholarship to attend Mercer University School of Law based upon my community service during my undergraduate career.

Q. Favorite food/restaurant/drink?
My favorite food is any Italian dish. The more pasta and carbs, the better!

Q. Most used/enjoyable app on your phone?
Currently, I’m loving the Furbo 360 Dog Camera app. I’m a new puppy parent to Toby, a mini Goldendoodle, and it’s great to be able to see his adventures at home throughout the day and to feed him treats remotely.

If you know any W&L staff who would be great profile subjects, tell us about them! Nominate them for a web profile.
