Ellen Archie ’14, Visiting Assistant Professor of Art and Art History – The College

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I graduated from W&L in 2014 as an art history and classics major. I have lived for the last three years in Athens, Greece, where I finished my dissertation.

Q. Best advice anyone has ever given you?
To keep going and trust the process — offered by my W&L mentors/colleagues!

Q. Anything in particular that you are looking forward to at W&L?
I am looking forward to reconnecting with mentors in a place that is important to me and teaching a new generation of students about the ancient objects that I love.


Leo Galarza, Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach – Athletics

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I graduated from Piedmont University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in sports communications. I have four brothers and two sisters, and I am the oldest child. I love to play all sports, and I am very competitive. I also love to watch movies and do arts and crafts.

Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I like to go on runs and I like to play sports like basketball or volleyball. I tend to be very active, but if I am unwinding then I like to watch movies and relax.

Q. Anything in particular that you are looking forward to at W&L?
I am looking forward to connecting with other people and working with the tennis team!


Sean Hicklin, Public Safety Officer

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a 1998 graduate of Virginia Military Institute with a Bachelor of Arts in biology. I recently retired from a 27-year career in law enforcement. I’m married to my wonderful wife, Sabrina, and we have two children.

Q. Any favorite Lexington spots or regional activities?
Don Tequila is the best Mexican restaurant within 150 miles —I’ve done extensive research on this!

Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I’m an avid outdoorsman and I operate a small farm with my wife. We’re excited about regenerative practices and producing healthy food.


Yasmine Khabiry, Classroom Technology Support Analyst – ITS

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greenboro with a bachelor’s degree in information science. I love going hiking and spending time outdoors — outdoor activities always give me a breath of fresh air. I also have a passion for fixing old antique technology. I recently acquired a projector from the 1960s and I’m excited to work on restoring it.

Q. Any favorite Lexington spots or regional activities?
I’m excited to hit the trails around Lexington. House Mountain Trail is definitely on my bucket list to explore once I get settled in the area.

Q. Anything in particular that you are looking forward to at W&L?
I’m excited about being part of a smaller community with a slower pace. After spending years in a larger university environment, I’m looking forward to really getting to know the people I work with and building deeper connections with faculty and students. I want to make a real difference here, whether that’s helping someone troubleshoot a technical issue or making sure classroom technology works so seamlessly that it becomes invisible and people can focus on what really matters — teaching and learning.


James Moeckel, Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach – Athletics

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Furman University after transferring from Tulane University. My brother is a creative writing professor at Hollins University and my sister teaches elementary multilingual learners in Charlottesville. My mother is retired here in Lexington.

Q. Any favorite Lexington spots or regional activities?
I’m eager to reacquaint myself with the U.S. using my bicycle as my primary lens and mode of transport.

Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I enjoy experiencing other cultures and speak Portuguese fluently.
