We live near the Blue Ridge Parkway at the south part of the county, so we use the weekends and evenings to walk the trails near us or kayak and the James River.

Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and I studied at Universidad del Este. During my studies, hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico. After 6-8 months of no electricity or water, schools opened again and while I was looking for an internship, George Huger was seeking students. I took the opportunity, leaving my family back home and moving to the U.S. on my own. Ever since then I’ve been honing my craft and even started a family.

Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
For relaxing, I usually make myself an iced chai and bring my toddler (Luka) out to the porch with me and watch him messing in the garden or playing with his toys outside. Sometimes I video chat with my parents to see how their day has been and show them how big Luka is and what new thing he’s doing. I’ve also gotten into soap making the past year.

Q. Any favorite regional spots or activities you are excited about?
I’m more of a home body, but I like going to Pronto with my toddler. I love my iced drinks and he can’t have enough of their chocolate croissants. I also like to visit the park and library on occasion.
